NightRoll Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 July 2026
NightRoll ("NightRoll", "we", "us", or "our") is made by Stack Applications. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the NightRoll app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using NightRoll, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: username, display name, email address, phone number, birthday, profile photo, and bio.
- Content you create: Shots (photos taken in a Roll), Rolls you create or join, and the Albums generated from them.
- Social graph: your friends list and friend requests, so we can determine who can see your Rolls, Shots, and Albums.
- Device and notification data: a device token used to deliver push notifications (for example, when a Flash goes off).
- Usage data: basic activity such as Rolls joined, Shots captured, and when you last used the app.
- Purchase information: if you subscribe to NightRoll Pro, Apple or Google processes your payment directly — we receive confirmation of your subscription status, not your card details.
- Print order information: if you order prints, posters, or photo books, we collect the shipping address and order details needed to fulfil that order.
2. How We Use Information
- To run the core features of NightRoll: scheduling Rolls, triggering Flashes, capturing Shots, and building your private Albums.
- To show you content from, and connect you with, your friends.
- To send notifications you'd expect from an active Roll, such as a Flash going off or a friend request.
- To provide NightRoll Pro features and manage your subscription.
- To fulfil physical print, poster, and photo book orders.
- To keep the app secure and prevent abuse.
3. Photos and Camera Data
NightRoll is built around capturing moments in real time. Shots are taken live through the app when a Flash goes off or you manually trigger one — NightRoll does not upload photos from your existing camera roll. You can delete your own Shots at any time. The host of a Roll can moderate the resulting Album, but only members who joined the Roll can ever view it.
4. How Information Is Shared
- With other users: your Shots and Album are visible only to people who joined that Roll. Your profile is visible to your accepted friends, or to selected people if you choose private visibility for a Roll.
- With service providers: we use Google Firebase for authentication, data storage, and push notifications, and a third-party print fulfilment partner if you order physical prints. These providers only receive what they need to perform their function.
- With Apple/Google: subscription purchases for NightRoll Pro are handled entirely through the App Store or Play Store.
- We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers.
- Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active, so that completed Rolls remain available in your Memories archive. You can request deletion of your account at any time from within the app; this removes your profile and revokes your access to future Rolls. Some Shots or Albums may be retained in a form visible to other Roll members who already had access, since an Album is a shared piece of content among everyone who joined.
6. Children's Privacy
NightRoll is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
7. Your Choices
- Control who can see your Rolls and Shots through friends and private visibility settings.
- Delete your own Shots at any time.
- Manage notification preferences in the app.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security practices, including access controls enforced at the database level, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
